Pullin' up in a truck of our own.
7-Bullet Sunday
Call me Rihanna because I've just been talking about work work work work work work. Ya see me do my work work work work work work.
...BORING.
Let's switch up and talk about some stuff I've been enjoying and other things looking forward to. Also potentially boring, but a different flavor. π
1) What I'm Looking Forward To:
- ReConvene: The Real Estate Private Equity "Un-Conference". Heading to Los Angeles, CA this week to attend my first conference in....6 years? It'll be my first time away from the kids for more than 1 night...I think? Dia's family is here with her though, so I don't feel too guilty.
- Fall: My favorite season. Summer's too hot, Winter's too dark, Spring requires too much Zyrtec in the morning and Flonase at night. Fall is where it's at. I also just revamped my closet so I'm looking forward to flexing these new outfits.
2) What I'm Reading:
- A Man for All Markets - I'm halfway through this book about the guy (Ed Thorpe) who created the counting cards method for blackjack and also invented the first wearable device to beat roulette. After almost getting killed by the Las Vegas Mob, he redirected his math talents towards Wall Street and revolutionized the hedge fund and much more. I'm mostly impressed by how young he looks for his age. #Goals

3) What I'm Watching:
- Stick (Apple). Owen Wilson in Ted Lasso meets Happy Gilmore. If Ted Lasso & Happy Gilmore are 10/10, this show is ~6.5/10.
- Terminal List: Dark Wolf (Prime). Only halfway through this season, but I'm just as invested in Taylor Kitch's character as I was in Chris Pratt's from last season. If this show delivers, I might have to pick up a few of Jack Carr's other books.
- REWATCHED: David Letterman Interviews Shah Rukh Khan (NFLX). If you're remotely interested in learning about the "Tom Cruise of Bollywood" or you want to see an absolute masterclass in charm and storytelling, watch this.
4) What I'm Listening To:
- If I Donβt Punish My Kid, How Will They Learn? Dr. Becky is at it again - forcing me to completely rethink the way I parent. I'm a product of consequences and punishments, and I turned out OK. So they must work, right? RIGHT?
5) Activities I'm Enjoying:
- Swimming. Dia and I added swimming to our weekly gym routine earlier this summer. We just got these goggles, and we shaved ~4 seconds off our lap time. No, goggles don't add horsepower. They just let you keep your head submerged while swimming, which completely changes your body's aerodynamics in the water.
- Couple's Date Night. We went out for a quick dinner with our cousins this past week. We obviously mostly talked about kids: school, activities, play-date dynamics, etc. As boring as it sounds, it was fun to 1) not feel alone in the throes of normal parenting and 2) get out of the house after the kids go down.
6) Tools I'm Using:
- Grok. I pay for Twitter/X so Grok is my AI of choice. I use it for basic things like Search, but I'm also creating projects in it. Most recently, I created a Project called, What Can I Build? I gave it instructions on how to calculate buildable square footage in different towns, and now I can just enter an address and it'll tell me (with pretty decent accuracy) how large of a house I can build. It's great for underwriting purposes.
- TidyCal. I've done a handful of "consulting" and "discovery" calls in the past 45 days, and I use TidyCal to schedule all of them. If you often receive requests for people to "pick your brain", I highly suggest using TidyCal as a filter / buffer. It's a one-time cost (unlike Calendly's monthly subscription), it syncs with your personal and work calendars so you won't get double-booked, and it lets you collect payments pretty easily if you choose to charge for your time.
7) Supplement I'm (still) Taking
- Create: Dia and I have been taking 4.5-6g of Creatine for the better part of a year now, and Create Gummies are the first version of creatine that doesn't run right through me. My favorite flavors are blue raspberry and sour apple, but we obvi subscribe to the 5-month count and rotate through all the flavors.
